Day trip from Rome to Assisi
Your private driver will pick you up from your hotel in Rome in a private, air-conditioned vehicle and take a 2-hour drive to Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage city in the beautiful hills of Italy's Umbria region. Assisi is historically important and is most famous for being the birthplace of Italy's patron saint, Saint Francis of Assisi. When you arrive, visit the 13th-century Basilica of St. Francis, a World Heritage Site and one of the world's most important pilgrimage destinations, where Catholics come to see the tomb of St. Francis. Then head to a local restaurant for an authentic Italian meal. After lunch, continue your tour of Assisi at the Basilica of Saint Clare (Basilica di Santa Chiara), named after Saint Clare, who was a student of Saint Francis, followed by the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels (Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli), located at the foot of the hill where Assisi is located. Your welcome driver will transfer you back to your accommodation in Rome.
